Why we wait until pups are two weeks old to take deposits

We don't take deposits until puppies are 2 weeks.

Canine gestation is 59-63 days. This is very little time for the buns to be in the oven. The first two weeks we asses the pups for any health concerns. We occasionally get a pup that fails to thrive and we need veterinary intervention. Those pups are not shown as available until they have been cleared by the vet.

When the pups are thriving and gaining weight well we take nonrefundable deposits on or after two weeks old. We often can not tell others know what is available until the two week mark. When we feel confident in the pups health we contact people on our waiting list. Last minute changes of plans are disruptive. However, if necessary we will roll a deposit over to a future litter.
